We thank you for your consideration and interest in volunteering in the ELANCO Memory Cafe. Guidelines were created in hopes of helping you understand what it means to be an ELANCO Memory Cafe Volunteer. Please, should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to the Memory Cafe Coordinator to review the guidelines together. No prior knowledge or formal education in Dementia training is required. Relative training will be provided. A general willingness to serve and socialize will make you a great fit! Thank you!
Responsibilities of Volunteers:
Volunteers should expect to arrive at the designated Memory Cafe prior to the start of the event to allow for appropriate set up. Clean up and tear down will occur immediately following the end of the event. If the volunteer is unable to commit to a certain memory cafe date, a 48 hour notice is requested if possible.
Upon acceptance and training within the volunteer role, a three month trial period will occur to allow for an appropriate transition and time to evaluate if the role is a good fit.
Following the trial period evaluation, the memory cafe coordinator will round with the volunteers on a bi-annual basis to stay in sync with commitment expectations and to engage in valuable feedback.
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
